Heard Rem Rieder of the
American Journalism Review say it was unthinkable for newspapers to get any sort of bailout from the government because it would be the "death of credibility" to be partially funded or owned by the government. So true...that's the way I feel about NPR and PBS.

Absolutely!
Although I think the death knell has already rung for big "theoretically objective" newspapers. We'll be back to the times when papers were unabashedly biased, and maybe that's a good thing.
I don't see how it could be worse than what we have now.
So true MamaT, the pretense of objective media is gone, gone with the wind. All I ask now is for clear labeling. Bring the sunshine law to newspapers: "The LA Liberal Times", "The Washington Conservative Times".
